EROSION: Lest we forget
LEST WE FORGET
An examination of issues of cultural juxtapositions with a view to foregrounding similarities between cultures when commemorating war.
The Granite Belt, Queensland and regional areas of northern France and Belgium are geographically half a world apart. However, the dedication of people in these communities to commemorate the involvement of Australians in World War One links them.
CAMARADE is a series of photographs that highlight cultural and economic similarities between people from three countries.
The photographs capture portraits, “artifacts” and landscapes of how people across three culturally divergent countries commemorate World War I.
The project is informed by a belief that it is timely to acknowledge and focus upon intercultural similarities to end feelings of hostile segregation between cultures, in particular during this 100th anniversary of WWI.
